Gnatalie Dig Kit

$30.00 Non-Member $27.00 Member

A real dig, at the kitchen table. Young paleontologists chip away at a plaster block to uncover the pieces of Gnatalie's skeleton, then assemble them into an 11-inch model. It is a hands-on way to learn how fossils are excavated.

Researchers from the museum's Dinosaur Institute, led by Dr. Luis Chiappe, discovered her quarry in southeastern Utah in 2007, in a riverbed buried 150 million years ago. Her nickname comes from the stinging gnats that pestered the dig crews, and Angelenos voted to make it official in June 2024.

Ages 6 and up. The plastic skeleton comes unassembled inside the plaster block. Keep dry and store in a cool place.
