Thomas is the sub-adult Tyrannosaurus rex in the museum's T. rex growth series in Dinosaur Hall, displayed with a baby and a juvenile. It is the only series of its kind in the world. Dinosaur Institute crews led by Dr. Luis Chiappe excavated Thomas from 66-million-year-old rocks in southeastern Montana between 2003 and 2005, and with nearly 65 percent of his skeleton preserved, he is one of the most complete T. rex skeletons known.
